Xbox and Game Pass in 2025 – 5 games we’d like to see

With that said (and with wish lists and growing backlogs in mind) there are still many excellent games that we’d love to see come to Xbox one day, in addition to titles that are already available on Xbox but would also be absolute Game Pass winners.

Whether it’s because a game has suddenly become so popular that it might be able to be considered for other platforms, or because it’s so great that it could help improve Game Pass’s catalog, here are our opinions on Five great games we want to see on Xbox or Game Pass in 2025.

Dave the diver

Here I am, once again wishing there was Dave the Diver on Xbox and Game Pass. To be honest, Dave the Diver is probably responsible for the idea of ​​this list in the first place. The Fishing Adventure-RPG launched for PC last year, and I was hoping, after all the popularity it gained, to see it make its way to Xbox.

Its runaway success is what gave us hope in the first place: after a triumphant debut on Steam, Dave took his diving skills to Switch, and has since swam to PlayStation. Good progress but not enough! Dave the Diver needs to bring his uniqueness to Xbox too.

And it is excellent. It’s one of those rare games where there’s actually a lot of cool stuff to do at first, and then you spend an extra twelve hours and suddenly, what? There are many more to do? The beginning was just the tip of the iceberg? Dave the Diver does an excellent job of frequently revealing fun features while still keeping all this new content at the same level of quality.

All the different parts of Dave the Diver blend together well: running the restaurant, boss fights, the great cast of characters, and of course, diving. Add to that a beautiful art style, great humor, a wonderfully bizarre story, and some really cool cutscenes, and well, this should be on Xbox!

Well, with that, we’ll move on to the next game we can’t wait for on Xbox!

Sun Haven

“But there are hundreds of agricultural simulators out there,” I hear you cry – it’s true, and yet I can’t stop myself from looking at all the new models. Fortunately, Sun Haven has lived up to all my hopes so far. It’s got all the charm we’ve come to expect from farming simulation games since Stardew Valley, but it’s all on the magical and fantasy side of things.

It’s a very ambitious game – there’s a lot to do beyond farming, and it’s all supported by extensive skill trees that make you feel like you’re progressing all the time. Sun Haven’s ambition is almost unmanageable when you take it into account last Farms you unlock later in the game, so deciding how you approach other areas helps address that panic.

The art style is absolutely beautiful, the world is fun to explore, and the whole thing is just a wonderful fantasy adventure to disappear into. After a long time on Steam, Sun Haven is now on Switch. Admittedly, it’s been a difficult time to get the game on Switch, and Sun Haven has its share of bugs and messes, but once this issue is resolved, I hope the developers will one day turn their attention to bringing the game to Xbox as well.

Moonstone Island

I had my eye on this but had no idea I would enjoy it as much as I did. Moonstone Island is a creature collecting life simulation game where you have to complete your alchemy training in a sky full of islands of all sizes and different biomes. These islands are filled with spirits, temples, and dungeons, and you happily spend most of your time moving between them to fight, pick up new spirits, or uncover new loot.

Moreover, you will also be able to make friends with NPCs, grow crops, make potions, take care of your spirits, and upgrade and decorate your house. It’s a really fun gameplay loop to collect, raise morale (which itself is wonderfully silly – a sandcastle in a bucket, a lizard wearing a snorkel, etc.) and explore the islands.

It’s a bit of a contrast to Sun Haven but one thing I quite like about Moonstone Island is that it’s a little quieter. There aren’t too many NPCs, farming isn’t a dominant part of the game, and the art style has a clean, concise look that gives the rest of the game room to breathe.

Another thing I like about Moonstone Island is that the days are very busy. Normally, the short days can be exhausting (Stardew Valley taught us all to cram as much efficiency into each day as possible), but it’s very refreshing on Moonstone Island to zoom around the islands like the busy alchemist you are.

So far, Moonstone Island is only for PC and Switch, which is unfortunate; We love card battles and creature collecting here too!

The brave squire

• Platforms: Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC
• release date: September 17, 2024

The Plucky Squire is my latest obsession. It’s a dimension-hopping, action-packed, puzzle- and platforming experience where you learn that you’re a storybook character. However, you don’t have much time to digest this startling news, before you’re tasked with defeating the book’s villain, who has knocked you out and is trying to take over.

The Plucky Squire himself, Jot, takes well to the wild fact that he can now jump between dimensions, and soon we’re off on an adventure that takes us through the two-dimensional pages of this book and the three-dimensional world beyond.

Another cool twist is that you can sometimes rearrange the words of a book to change what’s happening on that page – creating new stairs, draining water, emptying frogs, or whatever.

Plucky Squire has already been released for Xbox Series The Game Pass library is huge but its monthly additions can vary slightly in quality – The Plucky Squire will be a crowd-pleasing win.

dinkum

Dinkum may seem like the perfect mix between Animal Crossing and Minecraft, but it absolutely stands out as a great game that will take Xbox by storm.

It’s a farming simulation game set in a world inspired by the Australian outback, which in itself is an interesting change. Like all the best farm simulation games, you have to start from scratch and build a town, attracting new residents and reclaiming and decorating everything you can get your hands on.

This really is EverythingAlso, because you can move one plot of land after another and fix everything according to your own standards. In fact, it’s a bit confusing how much redesign you can do – I usually make big redesign plans, and after endless deliberation, I end up carefully placing three flowers.

We’ve all loved Animal Crossing during lockdown, but it’s a bit frustrating when you pick some flowers, sell a few kale and then don’t have anything else to do during the day. Especially since in the beginning (when we are excited to play) you will need to wait a long time for the buildings to be completed before you can do anything. Dinkum doesn’t have the same timings as the real world, so you can play non-stop in a Dinkum rave.

You have the usual options of growing crops and animals (giant wombats, amazing) as well as catching insects and fishing, but you also have to forage for food and fight off predators, and add a layer of “oh my god, everything’s trying to ‘kill me’ whatever species suits the backcountry environment. There’s Also mining, which is exhausting in its own way.

In the less frightening parts of your day, you can also decorate your home and town. What’s the best way to relax after chasing crocodiles? No whispers yet on any platform other than PC, but we’re very hopeful that will change – especially since the game is, hopefully, nearing the end of Early Access on Steam after some great content updates.

Lamb worship

Like The Plucky Squire, we already have Cult of the Lamb on Xbox, but oh man Will this be the perfect Game Pass game? It’s a strange setup: Cult of the Lamb mixes cute and terrifying together so you have adorable, wide-eyed animals doing terrible things in the name of lamb. This Lamb is you, who was saved from death and charged with building a Savior cult.

This involves a combination of base building and going out on rounds against rival cults and leaders, and this is where the gameplay loop excels. You have to choose your path during your runs and survive as long as possible, but in the meantime, your followers face all kinds of tricks and need a lot of attention when you return (and you better hope you come back victorious, otherwise they might come back victorious). You start to lose faith.)

You must decide on rituals and cults to keep everything balanced so that you don’t come back (well, not much) to sick, hungry, and angry followers who threaten to leave and take your gold with them. Add to that that they’re a rowdy bunch at the best of times (they pull pranks on friends and poop meals) and your hooves are full, especially since you have the ability to kill/sacrifice/do all sorts of unpleasant things.

Of course, Cult of the Lamb may not need the boost in player count that Game Pass can provide. It’s already hugely popular with a dedicated fanbase and everything from a metal album to themed weddings at PAXAus. Most importantly, Cult of the Lamb is one of those excellent games that immerses itself well in several genres and features that are sure to please fans on Game Pass.
