A new piece of Xbox hardware has been announced with a very cheeky name that seems to mock PlayStation.
For as long as video game consoles have been around, gamers have been debating which console is better. It’s an argument that will likely never subside anytime soon, and conversations are hot today with talk Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo Systems, as they were decades ago.
Check out the Hyperkin competitor trailer below!
Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preference as to which modern console is best, but really, you can’t go wrong with PlayStation’s DualSense, Xbox controller, or Nintendo. Joy-Con.
Due to the quality of official controllers, third party accessory manufacturers will create their own controllers inspired by their official counterparts such as PowerA, SCUF, Nacon to name a few.
However, Hyperkin, another third-party accessory manufacturer, has gained a lot of attention with its recent ad that appears to mock Sony DualSense with the new Xbox controller.
Hyperkin usually creates controllers inspired by Retro Yesterday’s consoles like SNES, N64, GameCube, etc. Controllers have been created inspired by Xbox’s original Duke controller.
However, as I mentioned before Pure Xbox, a cute HyperKin device called “The Competitor,” was announced during CES 2025. This wired controller is compatible with PC, Xbox Series
The rival controller is blatantly inspired by the DualSense, not only with its button placement and analogue stick, but also with its case design and color scheme, and we love it. It is also worth noting that it is available in all black.
At the time of writing, a price and release date for The Competitor have not been announced but we suspect it will arrive sometime this year.
