Stellar Blade Dev responds to criticism of artist Naughty Dog’s Eve performance

Naughty dog Character concept designer Hyoung Taek Nam received some criticism for the fan art they created for him Star bladeThe main protagonist, Eve. The render was reposted by the game’s X account (formerly Twitter), where fans suggested the artist’s work was “ugly” and “disgusting”. Steeler Blade developer Shift up He recently published more of Nam’s artwork in response to this criticism.

Stellar Blade dev “always welcome” fan art

In the original post featuring the first piece of Nam, the criticism doesn’t seem to stem from the actual quality of the art. It’s really a group of trolls who don’t like their interpretation of Eve. Here’s the fan art depicting Eve fighting the Knightba:

Nam’s Naughty Dog connection seems to be fueling those fires a little more. Since PlayStation Studio usually takes a more realistic approach to their art, a certain group of trolls are confusing realism with wokeness. So, unfortunately, it is not surprising that this particular interpretation of Eve has received this kind of criticism.

Two days after the original post, the Stellar Blade account posted a second piece of fan art by Nam. This time, it was a photo of Eve with softer features than the previous post. Also attached is a response to criticism from Nam’s previous article that welcomes art and explains the importance of style in art.

Shift Up replied, “Artist Nam Hyoung Taek has drawn Eve for us again.” “We are very grateful for this, but we always welcome fan art in the previous art style.”

“It’s not uncommon for fan art to incorporate more of the artist’s style than the original, and we think this is a very important and interesting point,” Shift Up adds.

Stellar Blade launched back in April exclusively for PS5. It has received several updates since release, including: PS5 Pro improvements and Nier: Automata crossover DLC.
