Samsung announced several new screens before that CES 2025, featuring releases focused on gaming and entertainment. Samsung’s most prominent features Latest collection They are two new Odyssey G series gaming monitors, claimed to feature the world’s first OLED panel with a 500Hz refresh rate.
The Odyssey G6 and G8 are Samsung’s new high-performance gaming monitors, with the former featuring a blazing-fast 500Hz refresh rate. The G8 model, G81SF, is 27 inches OLED A screen with a 4K panel that offers a 240Hz refresh rate. The 27-inch panel has a pixel density of 165 ppi. The Six has a reduced resolution compared to its 4K counterpart, featuring a resolution of 1440p. But with that lower resolution comes more than a 2x refresh rate improvement.
It is worth noting that screens with a frequency of 500 Hz, such as AW2524HFare already on the market. However, Samsung’s G6 is claimed to be the world’s first phone to use an OLED panel.
Both displays offer instant response times of approximately 0.03ms thanks to OLED technology, and feature AMD and Nvidia variants of adaptive refresh rate technology (G-Sync compatible and FreeSync Premium Pro). HDR 400 True Black is also supported, giving the new G6 and G8 models HDR capabilities in games and HDR-enabled video content.
At CES, Samsung will also be showing off a 3D monitor, the Odyssey 3D G90XF. As the name suggests, this panel is focused on 3D gaming/entertainment but does not require glasses. Odyssey 3D uses a new lenticular lens attached to the front panel to achieve the 3D look without 3D glasses. Samsung has also equipped this Odyssey model with AI processing to convert 2D videos into 3D.
Jumping on the AI train, Samsung is introducing a new AI-focused display, the Smart Monitor M9, which boasts “industry-first” AI features that are claimed to enhance entertainment and interaction through intelligent search and AI adaptive functions.
It’s a 32-inch 4K OLED display with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 support, just like its Odyssey counterparts. The monitor features two AI functions: AI Picture Optimizer and AI Upscaling Pro. AI Picture Optimizer claims to analyze input signals and optimize display settings Improve the visual experience of any content being viewed, including games, productivity apps, and videos.
AI Upscaling Pro upscales low-resolution content to 4K. Essentially, this feature is similar to Nvidia DLSS but works outside the screen itself and works with whatever content is being displayed. Samsung uses a neural network to upscale low-resolution content to 4K quality.
Completing the lineup is the ViewFinity S8 S80UD, a productivity-optimized monitor that features an unconventional (but large) 37-inch display. The panel type has not been announced, but it is likely that it uses an IPS panel since none are mentioned. OLED technology.
It features a 4K 16:9 panel with 99% sRGB color accuracy. A built-in KVM switch is also integrated into the monitor, allowing users to operate multiple systems through the monitor without using different peripherals. There’s also a 90W USB Type-C connector for charging supported devices.
