Masayoshi Yokoyama, studio director at Ryo ga Gotoku StudioThis was revealed Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirates in Hawaii The hours are about 30% longer than previous spin-offs, such as Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Cleared His Name.
Speaking with Automaton Media, Yokoyama-san revealed that the game’s length swelled to accommodate its story, and not just because of the developer’s desire to make a bigger game.
It’s like turning up the volume because of the story. The map is huge, there are a bunch of places you can visit, and there are still features we haven’t announced yet. The size increased on its own.
