PlayStation is already reviving the old IP

After an official statement indicated this Sony is keen on a revival Some of the elderly PlayStation IPa rumor has surfaced that the company is already working on some of these franchises. The problem of a beloved IP remaining dormant keeps cropping up from time to time, and Sony seems to have taken notice.

Sony may revive old PlayStation IP to complement major new releases

according to Andy Robinson’s Video Game ChronicleSony is working on “a couple” of legacy IPs, such as “deep legacy IP stuff.” We’re not entirely sure what Robinson means by “deep old IP”, but we get the impression he’s talking about PS1 and PS2 games rather than something like PS4 games Bloodborne.

“Maybe some of the smaller games are complementary to their larger releases,” Robinson continued, adding a bit of weight to our theory above.

In September 2024, Sony caused a stir when it said that the company’s entertainment divisions, including PlayStation, You do not have enough original IP. PlayStation president Hermen Hulst was then questioned about fan demands to revive some dormant franchises, as he said that Sony is “exploring opportunities to leverage our legacy IP as well as develop new franchises.”

We are keeping our expectations in check for now.
