New Genshin Impact characters in Update 5.3 onwards

Want to learn about the new Genshin Impact characters? During each new update, at least one new playable character is usually introduced to the roster. They typically appear on event banners with increased drop rates, including one five-star character and three four-star characters.

While none of this information is official until Hoyoverse says otherwise, here’s a summary of all the current rumors and speculation.

Genshin Impact 5.3 characters

Teyvat’s Claymore-wielding Pyro Archon was first revealed in Ignition teaserwas released before Natlan’s debut. Mafuika is the Goddess of War (no, not that one) although she has a great relationship with the people she presides over. We got our first look at Mavuika in-game in Genshin Impact 5.1’s Archon Quest.

Setlali

A seer of the Masters of the Night-Wind tribe, Citlali, a Cryo Catalyst user, offers her services to many prominent people of Natlan, including Mualani. Citlali’s English voice actor is Skyler Davenport, the same actor as March 7 in Honkai Star Rail.

Lan Yan

Lan Yan has Liyue’s adventurous spirit, and is the master rattan weaver of the Chenyu Vale Artisan Association. Lan Yan is a four-star Anemo Catalyst user. Although Lan Yan’s drip marketing dropped at the same time as Mavuika’s, she won’t be available until the second half of 5.3.

Upcoming Genshin Impact characters

Ansan

Iansan is revealed in Chapter 5 of the Teyvat Chapter Storyline preview. This small but mighty power user uses Polearm and has a lot of accomplishments under her belt. She holds the title of Champion Guide on the annual Natalan Journey for the Return of the Holy Flame. She’s also a fitness trainer, so we expect her to put us through our paces when she makes her first appearance.

Damascus

Varka is said to be the most powerful person in Mondstadt, and is the Grand Master and Knight of Boreas, a subdivision of the Knights of Favonius. As with most upcoming Genshin Impact characters, there’s no indication when Varka is likely to become available. Varka is referenced by several characters over the course of Genshin Impact’s story, but does not have an in-game model. He is currently away on an expedition, leaving Jan in charge of the Knights of Favonius.

dainsleaf

Dainsleif, the Bough Keeper, was officially announced by Hoyoverse during Tokyo Game Show 2020 – however, no release date has been set. A voice actor has been announced, but we have no indication of when he might arrive. Dainsleif is from Khaenri’ah, an underground world that’s not part of Teyvat itself – so maybe one day in the future we’ll meet Dainsleif when we explore his homeland.
