Many of them are nostalgic 2D Sonic fangames, but Sonic Galactic might be the best.

The last time I wrote about the Sonic fangame, I explained it guilt-free and absent-mindedly. “SNES-Style”. This resulted in Social media dog pile In particular, the strength reserved for major international banks is accidental regulation34 Screaming insults It washes over me over and over again, rolling on the floor under my desk, scrolling through Graham to please delete the entire internet, I want to start over.

Let’s see if we can do better this time: Sonic Galactic is an incredibly finished Sonic fangame from Starteam that, broadly speaking, imagines what the developers of the Mega Drive and Genesis platforms might look and feel like if they were created for the Sega Saturn. If you want to try it out for yourself, there’s a new demo. Please find it here on Itch.io.. Maybe if I had posted the download link higher up in the other article, people would have been distracted and avoided stun me so ridiculously.

The key to judging any Mega-Drive Sonic game: which sidekicks do you put in? Because after all, the side hustle goes hand-in-hand with Sonic’s dilution from the iconic platform game to the franchise’s goop poodle. Expand beyond the core trinity of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, and you’re at best, gimmicky, at worst, adding active toxic ingredients to a beautiful layer cake. But there are situations where a dollop of Amy’s rose, a stroke of shadow, can bring grace and decency.

Sonic Galactic seems to have the right idea. In addition to Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, Fang adds the Sniper (Jerboa) from Sonic the Hedgehog’s trilogy and a new character, Tunnel the Mole. Each character has their own moves to recreate the classic sonic fun of pinball, with beautiful, hand-pixelated rings and ramps to crash into some pegs while away from 1-Ring 10. up.

I played a bit of the demo, which was a little scary for me as I have a tutorial level, with very verbose written instructions that appear in the view when you’re on stage. The game fits my memories of Mega Drive games like a glove. If you’re asked to replicate the visual and skill design of Sonic 3, Sonic Team’s game feels great – it has the same list of first-person TV powerhouse inspirations, but adds a wallop to Sonic. And a variety of cool techniques when running on water. So far, Galactic seems to be playing things straight rather than overt comparisons. Sonic ManiaI think it’s even better at remixing elements from the older Sonic games.

The special levels of 3D that you can see the most is the “Power of Saturn”, a great console that is now mostly remembered for kicking the ass with the PlayStation 1. The chiptune soundtrack, on the other hand, has a sense of speed that I can relate to. The series at its best.

Sonic Galactic is set to return in 2020, and doesn’t have a release date yet. Go ahead, leave the display for a spawn-attack.
