Over the past few hours, users have been inundated with Microsoft Rewards com.subreddit and other social media sites with posts stating that their rewards accounts were wrongly suspended by Microsoft. It’s not clear why this is happening, but users are not happy.
After investigating the issue, I discovered that my account had also been suspended. While others here in the TrueAchievements towers appear to be unaffected, I have now encountered the following from Microsoft when going to the Microsoft Rewards dashboard: “Your Microsoft Rewards account has been suspended.
“Our research indicates that you or your Microsoft Rewards account have been involved in one or more violations of the Microsoft Services Agreement.”
According to Microsoft, users can be banned from Microsoft Rewards for “maintaining multiple user accounts per household, opening more than one user account per individual, residing outside of supported regions, or providing inaccurate account information, including your real first and last name, address.” Your complete and accurate postal, working phone number and email address, using a service intended to confuse your real IP address or location, and using a bot, cheat code, macro or other automated method to participate in Microsoft Rewards.
Those who have had their accounts suspended claim that they did not do anything to violate these rules (myself included) and are now wondering whether or not they will get their accounts back. Mass suspensions like this have occurred in the past, with some being banned permanently and others being unsuspended after some time.
