A Kindling Forest is a new game by Dennis Berndtsson, a solo developer who is also a high school teacher. It’s an action adventure or rather, a side-scrolling auto-running game filled with clever mechanics. Forests, arrows as well as a lot of lava are what the game contains!
An ancient demon was wreaking havoc on the world. So, the spirits of the forest awaken an archer from the past, hand him a bow and send him on a quest to eliminate the demon. But nothing is straightforward in A Kindling Forest!
You are constantly on the move. In fact, in A Kindling Forest, the screen keeps scrolling with lots of fragments. These are sharp, nasty snags that come in all sorts of wild shapes and patterns. You have two options as usual: dodge them or shoot them with your arrows.
Darts are your lifeline. They are literally the spirits of the forest that help you. Run out of arrows, and you lose. So, every shot you take should count.
The Kindling Forest contains five levels, each more chaotic than the last. You’ll jump over spiders, teleport to mysterious ruins, fly above clouds, and even deal with lava.
Checkpoints spread around act as a life saver for you. It allows you to start over and try new strategies if you make a mistake.
In A Kindling Forest, your phone’s screen is divided into two parts. One half is for jumping and the other is for shooting, and timing is everything in the game. There’s also a bit of slow motion when you line up your shots, giving you enough time to line up.
In the meantime, check out the game’s live trailer here!
