the Border areas The games are full of parodies and references to popular culture. They can be as small as flavor text on a weapon, or as large as a boss fight in the entire main story.

From Pandora to Wonderlands, the Borderlands games are filled with silly side quests.
You never know when the next reference will come, but you’re always waiting for it. It’s a key part of what makes these games great.
You could fill a book with all of Pandora’s pop culture nods, but these are some of the best Borderlands has made yet.
Scooter’s love life is noticeably problematic, and this particular little mention is no Disney fairy tale. in Border areas 2Scooter gives you a side quest titled “Cold Shoulder”.
You are sent to search for flowers to woo his girlfriend Laney White, and girl mugs for Scooter in case the courtship fails. When she delivers flowers to Laney, she learns that she was dealing with seven little men with adjective nouns.
Until Laney and her young lovers jump in to kill you, you’re not given her last name, so the quest’s joke is a complete surprise. I enjoyed it very much, but I didn’t want to stay for a long time in the treasure room and the eight beds that the black light should never approach.
This is a specialist reference, and it’s surprising that it made it to the list prefix. After you rescue Professor Nakayama at the Hyperion Tournament Center, he asks for your help in getting Jack to notice him.
After you inevitably fail to attract Jack’s attention, Nakayama asks you to kill the genetic abomination he created through the “Kill Meg” quest. You must locate the trash compactor and enter it where Meg spawns.
I was simply expecting to find the trash compactor monster as a nod to Star Wars, and I wasn’t entirely wrong. This happened to be a thresher named Meg who wore a pink hat.
I always expect obscure references in these games, but I’ve never had Family Guy’s Blue Harvest, on my Borderlands bingo card.
Tina’s Little Wonderland Provides a dark look at the Smurfs in The Little Boys Blue side quest. The Murphs of the Weepwild Dankness are on the verge of extinction due to a zombie-like plague and they need a hero.
The Queen of the Murphs, Murphette and Old Murph, ask you to help rescue the Murphs from the clutches of the wizard Garglesnot. Every step you take, you have to fight zombie Murphs known as “The Blue Ones.”
Although I was initially laughing at the start of this mission because I was killing Smurfs, I was drawn into the interesting story it turned out to be. My heart sank when Old Murph died after being injured, and I don’t know why I cared so much.
Although it is an old reference, it is one of the best parts of this book A D&D style subgame.
The pre-sequel phase can be a bit difficult at times due to how quickly you beat levels. If you’re in Vorago Solitude and want to get too far off the beaten path for EXP, as I did, you might stumble upon a gold loader named ICU-P and a blue crap named RT-FC.
They give you the very obvious star wars Side quest These are robots, where you can accompany them across the desert to deliver a holographic request for help to Toby the Adobe. This is my favorite part of the prequel, because it lovingly recreates the C-3PO and R2-D2 dynamic.
The mission rewards you with an energy pistol called Toby’s Bright Spadroon that works somewhat like a lightsaber. It’s not practical at all, but I held on to it far longer than I should have.
The Unstoppable is one of the random bosses that can be found in the game Border areas 3. You’ll find him in the Amber Mire at Tig’s Big Rig.
It’s as if The Juggernaut was ripped from the comic book page and placed directly into Borderlands. I didn’t know this was coming when I first met him, so I was terrified by the sudden Marvel villain in front of me.

He’s a giant, and you can remove his iconic helmet to make him angry and claim better rewards. He has a chance to drop some items, but the most notable is the Band of Sitorak, which is another reference to Juggernaut’s Cyttorak.
It’s a very legendary Easter egg in the PreSequel that was exceptionally well hidden. If you follow the elevator in Tyko’s Ribs all the way down the pipe, you’ll enter Mario’s secret room.
Enemies will spawn and try to take you down as you navigate the blocky pipes and platforms. The retro music blasting in the background as you hunt for your rewards evokes feelings of nostalgia just right.
You are rewarded with a hidden vault token and a room with some high-level chests. Although, I was left wishing I had gotten one Plumber-themed cosmetics For my fraptrap.
As you venture through Konrad’s Hold’s Turrntide Shed, you’ll meet Captain Thunk and his beloved companion, Sloth. They take inspiration from Sloth in The Goonies, sporting colorful COV t-shirts that closely resemble Superman merchandise.
They have some cool unique voice lines, and Sloth will occasionally fire Captain Thunk at you from a cannon. Better yet, they have a chance to drop a grenade called It’s Piss with Sloth’s catchphrase as flavor text, “Hey guys!”
I first discovered Sloth and Chunk while playing online with my friends and we laughed about it for a solid ten minutes. And the It’s Piss grenade paired perfectly with my Porta-Pooper 5000.
This is probably the best kept secret on Pandora and I don’t know how anyone discovered it in the first place. After you unlock True Vault Hunter mode and start playing, a special item will appear inside the fireplace in Claptrap’s Place called Geary’s Unbreakable Gear.
If you pick it up and carry it on foot without dying or fast travel to the top of Mount Helsfont in Iridium Scourge. It’s an adventure that begins where the game begins and ends where the game ends.
At the top of the mountain you will find a psycho named Geary who will take the gear from you and throw himself into the fire. Three Raks will fly in and drop loot boxes for you.
It’s a A very wonderful greetingbut I wasn’t lucky enough to come up with one of the cosmetics that Jerry can drop when he dies.
I was actually thrilled to be playing the DLC that takes place entirely inside the mind of my favorite vault hunter, Psycho Kreig and the Fantastic Fustercluck. I lost my mind when I found a structure that looked very similar A certain pineapple under the sea He was attacked by one of its residents, SpongeBoss BulletPants.
SpongeBoss is a giant yellow creature that shoots you with a radioactive bubble gun that hits hard. Taking him down is a tough time on a basic level, but if you allow him to rage and reach his final form, Godly SpongeBoss NoChance, he’ll drop a metric ton of loot.
Disappointingly, SpongeBoss doesn’t drop the bubble gun he fights you with, but you can pick it up in the Bounty of Blood DLC. He shot down a PAT Mk. Third, what kind of compensation for it.
This is easily the best Borderlands reference and it does everything right by me. In the Cave Caves where the Sanctuary used to be located, there is a small hidden cave that has been sealed off by Minecraft Blocks dirt.
If you engage the blocks, you will slowly break through them Proper minecraft costumes And uncover a mine full of breakable blocks and creepers that want to blow you up. If you kill enough of them, a huge creature will appear that drops some amazing loot.
You’ll receive Minecraft head cosmetics that match your vault hunter, and a skin that matches Steve’s color scheme. It’s such a true homage that I broke every block in the place hoping to find the diamond and came away empty-handed.

Although the games have their roots in comedy, the character deaths in Borderlands were deeply affecting.
