Lenovo Yoga 7 14AHP9 laptopcomplete with an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS APU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD, is currently on sale for $300 off or $599.99 at Best Buy. This is its lowest price point ever, but it has sold for that price several times in the past year.
The price point alone will likely be compelling to fans of Lenovo’s convertible Yoga form factor, which allows the device to be used as a touchscreen tablet, a standard laptop, or even a stand-alone tablet/monitor for pure viewing purposes. However, the Ryzen 7 8840HS is not an APU, and it can prove to be a competent entry-level gaming performer if you’re willing to make the right compromises about its hardware.
The specific model of the Lenovo Yoga 7 14AHP9 on sale is mostly the maximum configuration. 16GB DDR5-6400 RAM, 1TB NVMe Gen 4 drive, Ryzen 7 8840HS APU with embedded processor Radeon All 780M GPUs indicate the upper limit of available configurations. Unfortunately, this model on sale doesn’t have a 500-nit OLED screen, instead, this discounted model ships with a 400-nit IPS panel. This should look reasonably good, but current reviews suggest the OLED model at least looks good Looks much better. However, this product is more expensive and (at the time of writing) a lot more expensive More complicated to find actual listings for.
In any case, the overall computing experience on offer here should be pretty good. The Lenovo Yoga convertible form factor has proven itself at this point and is truly ideal for those who want to maximize the portability of their laptop. The Ryzen 7 8840HS has eight Zen 4 CPU cores and 16 threads, running at a maximum frequency of 5.1 GHz. Add in the powerful Radeon 780M iGPU (also seen in high-end last-gen gaming laptops like the Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme Edition), and you’ve got a workstation with more than enough power for most productivity applications.
If you plan to play on this device, I recommend using resolution scaling or FSR whenever available while playing modern 3D games. The iGPU targets native 720p/800p display more than this laptop’s full resolution of 1920×1200. Smart resolution scaling and lower graphics settings should also make this laptop well-suited for gaming, as long as you prioritize playability over pretty graphics.
