Crafted Rods are fishing rods created via the crafting station in the Ancient Archive. You can unlock this by obtaining four different parts about the ancient islands and cooperating with 3 other players to unlock the archive. We’ll cover this in more detail in the guide.

As crafting opens up, you have as wide a range of new options as you can get, but these come at a hefty cost. They all require fairly rare or expensive items, so obtaining a single rod takes a long time. It’s best to prioritize and skip bars that aren’t really worth the time investment.

What is the best rod made of?

In our opinion, Rod Of The Forgotten Fang takes first place. It has very good stats in the following.

The rod also comes with a special ability that automatically gives you a weight-boosted high-ranking fish for every three perfect catches you make. These catches don’t have to be consecutive either. We will never complain about getting free fish. Plus the high control stats make it very easy to get a perfect catch.

Is it worth it?

The Rod Of The Forgotten Fang is a big investment, and requires you to pick up four Legendary Grasses, as well as the Lunar Thread, so it’s going to be tough. However, we’d argue that the Rod Of The Forgotten Fang requires a little less planning to obtain, when it doesn’t require you to obtain Meteorite Gems or attempt to sift through Roslit Oysters for a Golden Pearl. It’s pretty tough until you get lucky, which if you’re a chip player, you already are anyway.
