This stunning wooden gaming PC design is perfect for a minimalist living room

I love Scandinavian interior design, which embraces a minimalist vibe with beautiful woods and natural colours. That’s why I love this Nordic DIY Building gaming computerswith its beautifully crafted oak case that is a testament to the skill of its creator, with plenty of room left for upgrades.

The solid oak frame is precision cut, with rounded corners and aluminum mesh side covers for airflow, finishing the build to look more like a classic 1960s radio than a full-sized computer.

This PC found our attention via a mail on builds.gg and it appears to have been a work of constant development since the creator, modfoller, started building it back in 2021. Modfoller started out using parts from his original metal PC, and took months to slowly build the case to completion starting with a single piece of unfinished wood. Processor.

The Danish builder took strong inspiration from the Scandinavian furniture era of the 1960s and 1970s with this innovation, even adding removable wooden table legs to the PC to make it resemble a side table. The case itself has a flip-up lid for access inside, while the front lacks any obvious IO other than a power button – a USB port would spoil the ambiance, after all.

The PC itself isn’t top-spec these days, but it’s still a good machine for 1080p gaming. There’s an eight-core Intel Core i7 11700K gaming CPU, a Gigabyte-branded Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, a 1TB Samsung 870 QVO SSD, plenty of Noctua fans, and 8GB of Kingston DDR4 RAM.

Fortunately, modfoller leaves a lot of room for improvements in the future. The oak chassis design has enough space to accommodate a full-sized ATX motherboard, ensuring the design will continue to grow and evolve into the future. This is a great gaming PC that fits on a minimalist desk, and I’m already thinking about how I can incorporate similar sentiments into my next rig, perhaps with a wooden case like this North XL fractal design.
