The Black Ops 6 Squid Game event has been criticized for its $10 reward track

Despite the slew of new Shop Packs, premium paths to Seasonal Battle Passes, and twice as good BlackCell cosmetics, there’s actually plenty to spend your money on Black ops 6 – And of course its free counterpart, Warzone. With imminent Black ops 6 squid game In this event, Call of Duty is adding another new means of monetization thanks to a premium track of rewards centered around the success of Netflix. After pressure from community figures, Activision has now revealed the price of the premium Squid Game Event Pass, and while it’s not as scary a number as many feared, it costs the same as the Seasonal Battle Pass which represents much better value.

After weeks of teasers, full details of the new Squid Game event have emerged in Black ops 6 It has now been revealed. With the multiplayer game modes that revolve around the series’ Deadly Challenges, Red Light, Green Light in Zombies, and custom challenges in Warzone matches, there’s a lot going on in this crossover. There are also a lot of Squid Game themed packs in FPS gameShop as well.

However, one of the most important features is the Event Pass, which allows you to earn a new melee weapon called the Cleaver, operator skins, and more. Typically, with these types of in-season events, all rewards are unlocked for free through play – either by completing challenges individually or as a community. However, the Squid Game event includes a premium rewards track that locks in a new operator, weapon blueprints, and more for an additional fee.

When new today Blog post Around the event that was first broadcast, there was no mention of the cost of this premium route. However, after some pressure from Call of Duty fans, it has been updated. Activision has confirmed that the Black Ops 6 Squid Game Event Pass will cost 1,100 COD Points, which is worth $9.99/£8.39.

This is the same price as the Seasonal Premium Battle Pass, which has a lot more rewards, gives you the opportunity to redeem the COD Points you spent, and gives you a much longer window in which you can complete everything. The graphic below shows some of the featured Squid Game bonuses, and while I’m not 100% sure if that’s really all that’s on offer or if there are a few extra bonuses you’ll be able to earn, what’s certain is that it’s not As good value as the Seasonal Battle Pass.

For Squid Game fans, there are at least some great racer skins that can be unlocked for free, and the price of the Premium Pass isn’t astronomical – I was quite worried it would cost more than this. But it’s a bit disappointing that what is essentially a mini-battle pass costs the same as a full-sized card, and doesn’t seem to compensate you with any earnable COD points either. The event only lasts for three weeks, so hopefully progression will be generous – the tedious work of unlocking all the rewards you’ve already paid for will be another big drawback.

This new method of monetization has already drawn some criticism, and given that the premium pass price wasn’t initially published, my suspicion is that Activision expected some backlash here. Two of the largest Call of Duty community accounts, ‘CharlieIntel’ and ‘ModernWarzone’, have expressed their dismay in a joint post highlighting the amount of monetization in Black Ops 6 at the moment – and the ongoing issues with the game’s anti-cheat.
