A recent VGC podcast revealed that Sony is apparently busy reviving at least “a couple” of older IPs in its portfolio, with journalist Andy Robinson describing them as “deep.”
Without being an insider, I know at least a couple they’re working on. Like deep cuts, old IP stuff.
Robison’s comments come just one day after it was reported that PlayStation chief Hermen Hulst said the format was owned by… Always looking for ways to leverage prior intellectual propertyWhich suggests that the company may be open to reviving a number of its old franchises. Sony isn’t hurting for choice in this regard, with series including Jak & Daxter, Resistance, Sly Cooper, Killzone, and more deserving of new entries. I would even argue that Uncharted, which is relatively new compared to those mentioned above, is long overdue for a new release.

Of course, the likes of Insomniac Games and Sucker Punch have long since moved on to other major franchises like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ghost of Tsushima, respectively, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t revisit their old IPs, or ask another studio to He undertakes the task of bringing them back.
