It’s been a minute, but the Savage Planet franchise continues! We’re back in second place…same people, same franchise, same studio, but with a new name: Raccoon Logic.
We previously developed Typhoon Studios Journey to the wild planet (Originally released in 2020 and currently available as part of the PlayStation Plus game catalog.) Now our new collaborative sci-fi adventure Revenge of the savage planeta comedic survival tale of explorers who amuse themselves to death, is scheduled to release on PS5 and PS4 in May 2025.
You’ll build and customize your own habitat, explore the alien landscape, scan everything, catalog everything, and hopefully figure out how to survive. With more planets, our sequel is a bigger and brighter universe. With first-person co-op and a new third-person perspective, you’ll run, jump, shoot and collect your way across four vibrant planets, crafting and developing your abilities while discovering the secrets hidden within.
Today we’re revealing a fifth secret planet filled with some…unnatural creatures, while our team members share insight into the design philosophies behind its creation.
First, watch the video below!
In this new world, exploration is still essential! There are creatures to capture, lakes to swim in, mountains to climb, rails to grind, and a secret den of fun to discover. Our fifth world features an inner bunker, a stark contrast to our open organic and natural worlds, with the goal of making our world more unpredictable! Here are some from our team to explain more:
“Filled with new challenges, crazy verticality, and uniquely modified creatures, this ultimate world answers all the game’s lingering questions.“
– Studio head Reed Schneider
“Our digital juxtaposition is a narrative way to enhance the mystery of something beyond the natural landscapes of our planets. We talk to the character Slappy through this dark and dangerous hideout he has created. Of course, we still have all the weird and wacky alien creatures we’re known for.“
– Lead designer, Steve Masters
“The sound design went in the opposite direction as well, contrasting our hardware with a very digitally produced feel. We started with a pinball machine meets game show tone, but as it evolved, we focused on being inside a supercomputer with a fun 8-bit sheen.“
– Sound Director Cameron Jarvis
“We wanted to provide entertainment value and interesting and fun robot games! We looked to many inspirations for old arcade games to develop this sense of nostalgia. We embody the hardtop design style in retro-wave neon colors as a tribute to ’90s entertainment.“
– Technical Director Eric Bilodeau
In Revenge of the Savage Planet, there are several ways to play, including online co-op with cross-play and couch co-op (local split-screen). And if you don’t want to sit on the same couch with another real human, we also have a single player mode!
“Our systematic design approach creates extraordinary interactions and results that you can explore and experience. We designed it to fit the world, the characters, and your entire experience. Every time you play, you’ll discover something new and experience it differently.“
