One thing I didn’t see coming: a new Onimusha game. Onimusha is called Path of the Sword, and it’s the first new entry in Capcom’s samurai action-horror series… well, the upcoming VR game doesn’t count, and neither will Warlords be hosting again in 2018. So, 2012? Maybe in 2010 2006, if you delete the unity browser sim? Cor.
If you’ve never played an Onimusha game and you probably weren’t alive in 2006, it’s basically Resident evil But it was developed by samurai and Japan. Anyway, the first one was true. Later they took classes… interesting liberties. Onimusha 3 had Jean Reno for some reason. One thing they all share is a more combative focus than Resis. No need to search for katana ammo, after all. But they’re definitely not hack-and-slash games.
The Way Of The Sword trailer doesn’t reveal much, but it hints at a back-to-basics approach, as you’d expect from a series that hasn’t had a mainstream payoff in nearly two decades. It seems to be set in a feudal era, and a bunch of demons wreak havoc in the forest. There are swordplay scenes, including a few brutal finishes and some dramatic feasts. If it’s close to the formula, there should be RPG elements as well.
Released in 2026. Any older Onimusha players in the House? I think it dropped from the series around the time Jean Reno appeared.
