the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 It’s now official, as Nvidia has unveiled its latest mid-range gaming GPU at the CES 2025 trade show on January 6. Despite having specifications that are largely in line with the company’s previous mid-range offering, the RTX 4070, Nvidia claims that this new GPU can deliver RTX 4090 performance.
The launch takes place alongside the new ultra-powerful flagship RTX 5090 – Dedicated graphics processing unit to run Best graphics cards of the world – and RTX 5080this new mid-range card is reasonably competitively priced at just $549, making it well-poised to be an excellent option when it becomes available later in 2025.
The RTX 5070 release date is February 2025just one month after the release of the RTX 5090, which is much faster than is usual for a mid-range Nvidia GPU release.
The price of the RTX 5070 is $549, That’s a little lower than many expected, making this card potentially excellent value, especially given Nvidia’s performance claims about its new GPU.
However, there is also expected to be stiff competition in this pricing segment, so Nvidia may choose to price this GPU more competitively. New AMD RD DNA 4 The GPU lineup is rumored to be focused on the mid-range price segment, but with performance in line with the Radeon RX 7900 XT, which could threaten the RTX 5070 if it’s too expensive.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 specifications include 6,144 CUDA cores and 50 RT cores, but it will only have 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM.

On paper, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070’s specs look relatively modest, as it only has a few hundred more CUDA cores than the RTX 4070 and has the same 192-bit memory interface and 12GB of VRAM. However, with the card using much faster GDRR7 memory, it should be able to handle higher resolutions better than the older card and generally offer a good increase in performance.
Furthermore, Nvidia has made a bold claim that the new card will offer “4090 performance for $549,” suggesting that this new card will be just as fast as the company’s old $1599 flagship card. However, the big caveat here is that this refers to performance when using the latest DLSS 4 upscaling and frame generation techniques with Neural Rendering. This allows up to three frames to be generated entirely by AI, allowing for incredible boosts to perceived frame rate. Whether this technology proves effective in real-world use will have to wait and see, but it certainly looks impressive.
Furthermore, these claims bring up a really interesting battle between this card and the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, which AMD is pitching as a direct competitor, despite it being that company’s new flagship GPU. If AMD prices that card the same as the RTX 5070 but actually delivers a much higher raw frame rate, without using significant amounts of AI upscaling, it could be a compelling option. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to actually test both cards to find out for sure.
The RTX 5070 cards aren’t available for purchase yet, but Nvidia has set up a notification in its store so you can accurately track when the cards arrive. When they do, you’ll be able to shop for them through these links.
