Marvel competitors He is a champion shooter, and as the name suggests, the majority of fights take place at a long distance. Guns, lasers, and magic make for good tactical combat, after all.
However, Marvel has a wide range of heroes and villains, and not all of them need advanced tactics to accomplish their missions. Sometimes, you just need a strong fist or a big weapon and enough power to swing it hard.

If you’re struggling in the competitive solo queue in Marvel Rivals, these heroes can help you rank up.
For balance reasons, there are no exclusive characters in Marvel Rivals. There are melee-focused characters, and a few more of them than you might expect.
Please note that the following was written during Season 0 of Marvel Rivals and is subject to change with future updates.
Thor is the Norse god of thunder, and naturally, lightning bolts etc tend to take precedence in his depictions. However, the thing that’s easy to forget is that Thor is constantly rotating around a solid slab of enchanted steel on a stick.
In Marvel Rivals, most of Thor’s abilities Revolving around his ThorforceHe builds it and burns it to charge his lightning. Even when he’s off duty, he can still keep an eye on the man with his hammer.
Additionally, his Storm Surge ability, while ostensibly for travel purposes, also performs a major collision attack, repelling any enemy it contacts.
Groot’s basic Vine Strike has a fairly long range so that it can be considered a melee attack, but it’s also not the only thing it can do for it.
For example, one of Groot’s defensive wallsThornslash Wall is awakened when Groot attacks nearby enemies. When you wake up, the wall will swell with its own vines. It’s a kind of ranged melee attack.
If that setup is too much for your taste, Groot also has the Furious Flora ability, which is a fairly straightforward melee combo.
Besides being harmful, this combo also ends with a launcher, which can be a good setup for other team members.
Hulk’s Marvel Rivals incarnation actually has more varied abilities than you’d expect from the fun green giant.
He has a gamma pistol and grenades in his logo form, as well as both a radiation lock and a gamma blast in their full forms. However, these are support abilities, designed to help achieve the ultimate goal of being a solid wall of radioactive meat.
When the Hulk is in the thick of things, his basic punches will knock enemies away, while his incredible ability allows him to jump on enemies from above.
Don’t even get us started on the final World Breaker, which grapples and crushes a nearby enemy.
Despite the whole “proportional spider strength” thing, Web-Head wasn’t the strongest of all on Marvel’s roster. However, what he lacks in raw brawn, Spider-Man makes up for with speed and agility.
Spider-Man’s goal in combat is to trap his enemy in his rhythm, hitting them with rapid, repeated strikes from his basic abilities. It takes a bit of ingenuityBut he can become a force of nature with practice.
With some good timing, you can pounce on an enemy with Get Over Here, launch them with the Amazing Combo, and then finish the job with a few Spider-Power moves.
If you can pre-tag them with Spider-Tracer from the Cyber-Web deck to deal extra damage, even better.
When Captain America throws down his mighty shield, all who choose to oppose his shield must surrender. In Marvel Rivals, though, he won’t throw down his shield until he can get up close and personal a little.
Cap’s base game, Sentinel Strike, is a multi-hit melee combo. After the second hit, his shield will automatically start bouncing between targets, but he can continue to swing without it.
He also has his classic Liberty Rush attack, as well as a Super Soldier Slam from above to launch nearby enemies.
He can throw his shield on his own with Vibranium Energy Saw, but while that cools down, it’s all melee combat.
As you’d probably expect from a man with the power of a panther goddess, Black Panther’s kit revolves around ferocious, high-speed melee combat.
His Vibranium claws and spiral kick come out fast and powerful, with the latter also being linked to the Vibranium mark to strike targets.

Although there are no shortcuts to the higher ranks in Marvel Rivals, there are some tips you can keep in mind to speed things up a bit.
Black Panther’s only versatile ability is Spear Toss, which also adds a Vibranium Mark to anyone it hits. All of these signs are in service of his Spirit Rend dash attack.
If Spirit Rend hits any specific enemies, it will instantly refresh, allowing you to chain together chains of damaging stabs.
Instead of his fists, Venom primarily attacks with tendrils that emerge from his body. Whether or not this is a “melee” attack is debatable, but its range is fairly short, so we’d say it counts.
It is, as Venom does his best up close and personal anyway.
Venom’s mission is to be Mobile disturbancefalling from above with Frenzied Reach and immobilizing enemies with Cellular Corrosion.
Even if they resist, he can prolong his life through the health bonus provided by symbiotic resilience and eliminate stragglers with a few extra flicks of his tendrils.
Obviously, anyone who carried a large enough sword would base the bulk of their fighting style around it.
While Magik does have a projectile in the form of Magik Slash and some support from her Limbo demons, that sword of hers will do the heavy lifting here.
Besides swinging her basic sword, Magik can launch enemies with Umbral Incursion. Her Stepping Disc ability allows her to flash a short distance to get into melee range, and she can also be instantly combined with an Eldritch Whirl to eliminate enemies at her point of arrival.
Even when transforming with Darkchild, Magik is still a melee fighter first and foremost.
It was no surprise to anyone that the man with the word “fist” in his name would be more of a melee fighter than anything else. Iron Fist is Strong in your face fighterswitching between his basic strikes Jeet Kune Do and his secondary strikes Dragon’s Defense.
When Dragon’s Defense is activated, it not only reduces all incoming damage, but essentially turns into Yat Jee Chung Kuen’s quick punches.
The only ability Iron Fist has that resembles a ranged attack is the K’un-Lun Kick, a long-distance flying kick.
Additionally, his other abilities, such as Harmony Recovery and Crane Leap, are for recovery and mobility only. All towards the ultimate goal of moving and punching things.
Arguably Marvel’s most famous melee fighter is none other than Wolverine and his adamantium claws.
The man has been a master of rushing and slashing since the days of X-Men: Children of the Atom, and Marvel Rivals keeps up that proud tradition.
His basic basic is Savage Claw, which is a short barrage of slashes, which then upgrades to Berserk Claw Strike after a brutal jump.
His secondary power, Vicious Rampage, is a combination of a dash and one powerful claw strike, perfect for closing the distance while Feral Leap is on cooldown.
Naturally, all of this is upgraded when Wolverine He unleashes his raging rage.
