Is offline Animal Crossing better than New Horizons?

2024 has been an amazing year for fans of healthy and relaxing gaming. Cozy Grove 2 came to mobile, Infold recently released Infinity Nikki, and we got that too Animal Crossing Pocket Camp: Complete. Even though it came out of nowhere, it seems to have revitalized the game community, but is it worth it? Let’s find out.

I wasn’t entirely sure I needed a full version of this game, but it hooked me back, and now I have a newly renovated camp and house – and I’ve decked out all the campers in fancy clothes. Granted, I’ve played the game sporadically, usually around Halloween every year since its release, but this unpaid, unpaid version has reinvigorated my need to play.

Nintendo The Jeep camp was declared complete in October, followed by the original version being shut down on November 28. The updated game was released a full day earlier than planned on December 3, and appeared early in the morning on December 2. It currently costs $9.99, eventually rising to $19.99. January. I’d be lying if I said that playing the last couple of hours before the game went offline wasn’t a little sad, saying goodbye to Isabelle and taking a cute photo with my favorite villagers. But after a few days, I went back to work as a camp director.

When you open the game, you’ll enter a room with the friends you added in the online version, and then KK Slider and Isabelle will come to greet you. Heading to a new snowy mountain area called Whistle Pass, KK sets up a small stage where your friends can hang out. You can then ask These other users To help you in the quarry, sometimes they will give you gifts.

Now, you can’t add people by visiting them online anymore, but you can scan QR codes on each of them Individual cards for the caravan. This is very easy to set up, and you will get something similar to what you have Animal Crossing amiibo cardcomplete with your chosen villager assistant at the campsite if you want.

After welcoming your offline friends, you can then go about your usual tasks of giving whatever the villagers ask for, fishing, collecting fruit, catching bugs, or decorating. You can also go on a shopping spree, now that your Leaf tickets are gone. What? how? She says surely I will not have any currency. My dear, quite the opposite.

The microtransaction-filled Leaf Ticket store no longer exists, and you can’t spend any money in this version of the game. Instead, there are Leaf Tokens, a currency you can easily earn without much effort, and from what I’ve seen so far, they’re much more plentiful than Leaf Tickets ever were. The best thing is that the previous sets of event-specific items are back, and you can Simply buy them. It’s amazing. I’ve already gotten so many new clothing items and fun furniture pieces that I don’t know what theme I’ll choose for my camp.

There are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of furniture and clothing items you can get, but you don’t just have to use card tokens for that. You can also access every cookie applied in the game and redeem them for full tickets, instead of a ridiculous amount of paper tickets. These full tickets aren’t too rare, so you can fill up on everything from Cranston Temple’s balcony to Panseti’s cosmetics shop cookies.

Although all of this is great, we advise you to spend the full tickets in the crafting menu. You will see an orange curtain with “Complete Item Catalog” written on it – here is a large collection of exclusive items that were previously inaccessible if you did not obtain them during the event. This includes 54 items with NPCs from the series to place in your camp! Reed mask booth? One ticket. Office chatter? One ticket too. Even a proper fortune booth with Katrina costs only one ticket.

Along with the renewed economy, there are some other changes. The game has gotten some visual upgrades as everything from the menu screen to the item catalog looks smoother. We’re also promised four new cookie themes spread out over the course of the next year, to feed us before the inevitable reboot of every cookie ever released.

But the biggest change is Integration with QR code In-game use so you can transfer any custom styles you created in Animal Crossing New Horizons to Pocket Camp Complete. That’s right, all the cursed island flags and cute dress designs are now available to decorate your camper.

I’m glad that Pocket Camp revamped my Animal Crossing playtime a bit, especially since, as you know, there haven’t been any real updates for ACNH other than things that should have been in the game at launch. Makes me long for what could have been in a Switch title. Why are there hundreds of items designed and ready to use, but never brought? Even some of the stuff from New Leaf on the DS was never brought back, and I’ll never know why.

While I wouldn’t want a live service portion of the Switch game, adding a little bit of clothing and hairstyles would be a huge upgrade. Imagine if the almost endless furniture options were available in the Happy Home Paradise design section – I’d be there for weeks creating a single home for any villager.

I can only hope that the next major Animal Crossing game gets some of the love that Pocket Camp received. I mean the mobile game has different types of shells never seen before in console games. Have you ever heard of Guilfordia Yucca? I didn’t know it, but I found it on the beach at Pocket Camp and I’m sure the Blathers would love to know about it.

Essentially, Pocket Camp Complete takes you back to the beginning where you didn’t feel like you had to spend money and you could earn enough currency to get what you wanted. With the visual upgrades as well, it’s just a much better experience and feels more Animal Crossing-y and wholesome again.
