Surviving in the wasteland is difficult. Resources are scarce, defenses are limited, and as always, humans are the most terrifying monsters of all. That’s the unique promise of a survival game – it’s brutal, but then again, the harsh landscapes of DayZ, Fallout and The Long Dark these days feel like escapism. Stalker 2 It was one of the best games in the genre in 2024. If you now feel like you’re done with this iteration of The Zone, there’s a great fan-made version to make sure players love it. It’s basically an unofficial Stalker game, and now it’s Game of the Year.
Although it was not without problems, Stalker 2 It arrived in November 2024 to great acclaim. Brutal Survival game The sequel returned to the alternate version of Chernobyl for another journey through the region, heralding more of the devastation, mutations, and anomalies that have emerged over the years.
For all intents and purposes, GSC Game World has managed to produce the first new game in the series in 15 years. Whether you’re simply tired of watching protagonist Skif die, or rolled the credits, you should now give Stalker: Anomaly a try. Designed by modders, it’s essentially a full, standalone Stalker game.
The final version arrives in September 2024, and comes complete with custom quests, areas, and mechanics unique to the other Stalker game. There are multiple story threads to follow, including finding a mysterious wanderer to find out what they have seen in the wilds of the region, and becoming embroiled in an armed conflict over hidden secrets around the region.
Instead, the sound and visuals have been changed and improved to suit a more modern experience, and A-Life (the franchise’s NPC system) has been tweaked and layered to provide a distinct sense of immersion. It’s an impressive mod that went a bit under the radar, and is now receiving some recognition as ModDb’s Mod of the Year.
Anomaly took first place in the site’s top ten for 2024, as voted by players, beating out Portal 2, Half-Life and Doom mods. An impressive achievement and perfect timing as people calm down from the initial hype of Stalker 2.
