If you’re playing this classic ghost hunting game, you’ve probably tried out some of its weekly challenges, only to discover that they’re definitely not easy to complete. Among the many experiences, Detective Only mode is one of the most difficult to complete, as you are not given any tips or directions and have to figure things out on your own.
But if you want to become a real ghost hunting detective, this challenge must be overcome. Using some of our tips and tricks, you’ll be completing the Lone Detective Challenge in no time!
First, let’s take a look at the rules that have been created for this challenge as they may be very different from others you may have already completed.
To complete the challenge, you must complete three contracts, along with selecting the correct ghost type. All this should be done at 42 Edgefield Road. Any wrong guesses will result in you failing the challenge and you will have to do it again. So make sure you have as much evidence as possible before guessing.
You’ll need to carefully analyze how the ghost behaves so you can identify the type and complete the challenge. This is very difficult since you will not have any official evidence with you, but you have to try several things and see how the ghost will react so that you can eliminate the wrong types.
Here are some of our tips.
This is the best method you can use to know if you are dealing with a faker, because they will usually fill the room with fake ghost orbs. Also check if they will change their behavior frequently while in the room. Fortunately, it’s also one of the easiest ghosts to catch.
If you throw the salt at the beginning, you can be careful whether the ghosts will actually step on it. If the salt remains intact after a reasonable amount of time, you are likely dealing with a ghost. If all else fails, this is usually a very reliable method for identifying it.
The clicker is a ghost that loves the dark, so if you want to get to know him, you can start turning on the TVs and all the lights you can find. If it turns off as soon as you turn it on, you are definitely dealing with a mare.
There is one ghost in particular that thrives in cold rooms, and that is the hanto. If the room is colder than others, it will not only move faster, but it will also turn off the breaker. If you can’t get it to work again, that’s a great indicator that Hanto exists.
If the ghost, even after waiting a while, seems to not want to move from the room it is in, in addition to being unable to make any changes to it, then you are probably dealing with a goryū.
Watch the candles carefully and try to take a photo when you see them flickering. If it is marked as a “ghost photo” but there is no obvious subject on it, it is most likely a phantom. Also, after lighting at least three candles and highlighting the cross, if they all go out at the same time, you are probably dealing with Onryu.
Since every time you use the Ouija board, it will trigger a cursed event, so you may be better off saving the board for only those questions essential to your investigation. For example, ask how old the ghost is and then wait in the room for a while. Now ask again, and if the answer is different with age, you are dealing with thai. Another useful question is to ask where the ghost is, so you can identify the room immediately.
Monitoring the speed of the ghost is a great way to get some extra hints to make sure you’ve selected the right type.
If your mind is draining very quickly, this can be a helpful hint to determine what type of ghost you are dealing with.
