If you haven’t played Killzone, it was Sony’s silver bullet in the battle against Halo, Gears and Duty for shooter control. It’s a natural choice to give a licensing partner to Helldiverse, a series about a pseudo-world-war conflict between intergalactic space empires, one of which is owned by Logan Roy.
In the year I was nuts about Killzone 2, which was released in 2009 and was one of the first “big” games I reviewed. A trailer at E3 2005 featured footage pre-rendered to look like a real-time game. In practice, it’s a perfectly okay FPS with thunderous dark clothing and a mildly confusing first-person cover system. Mainline series Killzone 3 and Shadowfall are direct examples of the law of diminishing returns, while spin-offs Mercenary and Liberation are respectable handheld shooters. They’re all exclusive to Sony consoles, so I think this Helldivers 2 crossover is Killzone’s regular debut on PC. Oh, I should put that in the title.
Helldiverse X Killzone Goodies will form a “new level of exclusive premium content” on the Superstore. There are some issues from the hacker community about the pricing and the fact of selling core weapons as DLC.
