Grand Theft Auto VI It is, to the surprise of absolutely no one, set to break every existing sales record when it drops later this year.
The report comes From Tim Bradshaw in the Financial Timesvia a report from DFC Intelligence (a video game research and analysis company).
“Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI, which publisher Take-Two Interactive is scheduled to release in the fall on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, will likely exceed $1 billion before it becomes available,” the Financial Times wrote.
“Gross revenue from the first 12 months of GTA VI’s release is expected to reach $3.2 billion, according to DFC forecasts, double its predecessor in 2013. Such success would far outpace the biggest blockbuster of 2024, Inside Out 2, which achieved a 1.7 $1 billion worldwide according to Box Office Mojo, and Deadpool & Wolverine, which has grossed $1.3 billion.
These numbers are very strange, but certainly within the realm of possibility. In fact, I’d bet they’d probably beat DFC expectations (based solely on the unfathomable levels of hype surrounding this game).
As usual, Rockstar games The only real competition in breaking these sales numbers is… Rockstar Games.
Grand Theft Auto V It broke pretty much every sales record imaginable. I made it Over a billion in sales In the first three days, more than 29 copies were sold million copies In his first six weeks In the market.
So what does Take-Two think about all this? Unsurprisingly, they seem confident of themselves.
“I never claim victory before it happens… However, I believe that Rockstar Games (developers of GTA) will once again deliver something very exceptional… Anticipation is certainly high,” Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick told the Financial Times.
To say “expectations are high” is an understatement, my friend, but we’ll have to see exactly how those sales expectations play out when the game drops (hopefully) later this year.
