Dev Behind PS5 Releases ‘Resolved’ Godfall Exclusive Game – Report

Counter gamesThe studio is behind PS5 exclusive launch Goodfuland it appears to have been “solved”. This report comes from a Jackalyptic Games employee, who revealed in a note on LinkedIn that his team was working on a project with Counterplay Games before it was destroyed.

The LinkedIn note in question, which PlayStation LifeStyle has seen and verified, does not specify whether or not the studio has been completely shut down. Screenshot is attached below. We have chosen not to reveal the identity of a Jackalyptic employee to avoid giving them unwanted attention.

The memo goes on to include LinkedIn profiles for a number of former Counterplay developers. After going through a few of them, we got the impression that this “break-up” happened sometime towards the end of 2024.

The only major release for Counterplay was Godfall, which was published by Gearbox. This was the first game confirmed for PS5 as a launch console exclusive (it was released simultaneously on PC). It was later ported to PS4, followed by the launch of Xbox.

Unfortunately, Godfall failed to attract an audience and received average reviews (including… One of us at PSLS). Counterplay went on to release the free-to-play collectible card game Duelyst on PC in 2016.
