It’s time for another big one Apex Legends There’s also a new update and event, and within the latest set of patch notes, you’ll find some generous buffs for three battle royale legends. Season 23’s focus on support characters continues with Loba and Mirage becoming more viable choices, and struggling legend Alter receiving an upgrade as well. On top of that, there’s a brand new jump coming into the game, plenty of weapon balancing tweaks, and much more.
Let’s start with those Apex Legends characters Amateurs, though, because they’re so big they can go some way to upsetting the situation Multiplayer gameMeta for the last half of the season. The beloved but little-used Mirage will be getting another upgrade to his kit that will help turn him into a “jack of all trades,” according to Respawn. His Invisibility Cloak will now also activate when using healing items, it will be equipped half a second faster than before, and he will gain increased movement speed while wearing it after reviving a fallen teammate. His Evo upgrades have also been fixed in this new one Apex Legends to update. His Level 2 upgrades are being eliminated and replaced with two entirely new upgrades: Boozle-Eye, which scans enemies that shoot one of your booby traps, and Renaissance Man, which allows him to take advantage of all the other classes’ global interactions. For example, Mirage can now use scan beacons or attack boxes.
If you thought these boosters were being generous, wait until you see the “pretty big change” Respawn has given to Loba. Its Black Market Ultimate Edition is now much better and benefits from several changes, such as the ability to grab dead players’ banners without using any charges, small meds like Shield Cells and Syringes can also be obtained for free, and you’ll start charging at 99% instead of 50 %, which means you can use it almost immediately. Burglar’s Best Friend’s Teleportation Bracelet now has two charges, so you can stack two at once.
As with the Mirage, its upgrades have also been completely reworked. Shopping Spree has been moved to level 2 and now allows all members of your party to take three items from your Black Market. It joins the new Wolf’s Claws feature that gives you a speed boost after teleporting. For level 3, she now has a brand new Backpack, which gives the entire team Gold level backpacks, and Escape Artist, which allows her to replenish 50 shields of health after teleporting. As a former Loba Prime member, this definitely tempts me to pick her up again, and that goes a long way toward making her a contender for Lifeline as a top support pick.
Another legend that has been buffed is Alter, who has struggled since her introduction in Season 21 and is one of the least picked legends in the game. The ultimate level of her Void Nexus has been improved thanks to the cooldown being reduced by a full minute and the Nexus no longer expiring. Its range has also been increased to 300 metres. A new Tier 3 upgrade called Multi Dimension has also been added, which gives you a second Nexus unit, allowing you to have two units on the map at once. Respawn says it has more improvements and reworks coming for Alter “in the near future,” but this is the first step in hoping to increase its usage.
Elsewhere, a weapon balancing pass made changes to the Charge Rifle, Mastiff, Peacekeeper, and RE-45. A new jump called Accelerator has also been added to Apex, which increases the amount of Evo and ultimate charge you get from dealing damage. The Accelerator is also a stock accessory on the Nemesis, G7 Scout, and CAR.
There are a lot of other tweaks and bug fixes arriving in this new update and you can check out the full patch notes here.
The new mid-season update and the start of the Astral Anomaly event arrive on Tuesday, January 7.
