AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT benchmark leaks show it outperforms Nvidia RTX 4080 Super

AMD may have largely ignored the launch of its RDNA 4 graphics card on the big stage of CES 2025, but leakers are not. fresh AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT benchmarks Specifications have emerged indicating that the new card will indeed be a strong competitor when it is launched.

The leaks include two 3DMark tests, indications of the board’s overall power, and discussions of how great its overall performance is. The card is still set to be a mid-range piece in the grand scheme of 2025 Best graphics cardswith RTX 5090 It looks quite distinct from the rest, but the latest look from AMD is set to bring Nvidia 4080 Super levels of performance in some situations, according to these leaks.

The original source for this new one AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Performance leakage, it is Chevelle forum, where admin user nApoleon posted screenshots of 3DMark benchmark runs and GPU-Z information, along with a post suggesting users refrain from rushing out to buy Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series. They claim that the graphics card “world” has “completely changed,” based on the results they published.

Chiphell official is quoted as saying Latest Update: Don't rush to pre-order the 5000 series, and if you want to change graphics cards above 4060, sell them immediately. The world has changed...completely changed...

Shortly after publication, the images were removed, leaving only the original text, making it appear somewhat obscure in isolation. Instead, other members of the Chiphell forum and leakers elsewhere did their part to complete the picture.

Chiphell forum member Zhanghonghao adds that the new card appears to have achieved a significant increase in total board power (TBP) compared to previous samples of the card. Initially, they say, the panel was expected to reach 265W TBP, but new leaks suggest it reaches 330W. That’s still well short of the 575W the RTX 5090 is expected to need, but it indicates that AMD’s latest hardware certainly offers plenty of power, despite its modest price and mid-range position.

Chevelle's quote says additionally, the TBP for the general release appears to have been increased, and was only 265 watts to begin with.

Meanwhile, users X (formerly Twitter), @Wukongmyth2460 and @0x22h Republished the Original photosWhich allows us to see the raw data that led to all this speculation.

From one of these images, we can see a 3DMark Time Spy Extreme score of 14,591 overall, published alongside GPU-Z measurements for GPU clock speed, memory clock speed, and more. While the overall result of such a test will vary depending on factors like the CPU used, the vast majority of testing is GPU-based, giving us what should be a reasonable representative view of this chip’s performance.

As such, we can see that the RX 9070 XT actually beats the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super by a few hundred points compared to the score of 14,451 achieved by the Nvidia card in our site Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super card review.

However, another image shows the more demanding 3DMark Speedway benchmark, and in this test the AMD card wasn’t quite as impressive. We don’t use the Speedway test in our benchmarks, but compared to other sources that tested the RTX 4080 Super with this benchmark, we can see that it typically scores around 7,500 points, which is well ahead of the 6,345 points earned by the 9070 XT leak shows. In fact, Speedway’s testing shows that the 9070 XT can’t even topple the Nvidia 4070 Ti Super.

However, as one of the leakers also pointed out, it’s still early, and the drivers haven’t been fully finalized yet. We’ve already seen the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 benchmark deliver 99fps at 4K resolution, and extreme settings on the regular RX 9070, so it makes sense for the XT version to add that extra boost of power.

As for the GPU-Z data shown alongside the benchmarks, it detects the RX 7800 XT, but shows specs that differ significantly from that card, leaving plenty of room for it to actually be the new, unreleased card. If true, this indicates that the card can boost the clock speed to at least 3060MHz, while the base clock will reach 2520MHz. Ultimately, as with the rest of these leaks, none of them have been confirmed by AMD, so they may be far from accurate.

While AMD’s next-gen flagship card leaks, CES 2025 continues with plenty of new gear yet to be discovered. Announcements like the Nvidia reveal RTX 5000 series It may grab most of the early headlines but examples like this are amazing Asus CPU cooler with wraparound display They are gems still to be discovered.
