It’s kind of hard to define what a roguelike is nowadays. There are so many games that take parts of the genre and combine them into themselves that choosing the best one can be like picking a needle out of a haystack, but the haystack is different every time you look at it. That’s why we wrote this list. We’ve filled the list with what we think are the best Android roguelikes and roguelites currently available to download from the Play Store.
You can click on the name of any of the best roguelikes for Android below to download it, and if you think we have missed anything off the list, be sure to let us know your suggestions in the comments section below the article.
Let’s progress through roguelikes, and hope we don’t die and start over.
A fantastic card-based dungeon crawler where you build a deck, fight against an ever-changing cast of monsters, and try to get to the bottom of a strange and compelling story. If you haven’t played this yet, just go and do it now.
A turn-based strategy game set on tight maps with some interesting twists. Hoplite turns combat into a clever series of puzzles. It’s hard not to be terribly addictive. It is free to download using IAP to unlock more features.
A solid hack-and-slash platformer with branching biomes, massive bosses, and a deep challenge awaiting anyone willing to put in the work. With regular updates, it’s really easy to lose yourself in its fantasy world.
A game that throws you into the depths of space and then tasks you with finding your way back. You’ll die a lot, but each tragic ending will teach you a valuable lesson for your next journey through the universe.
We may have lost the original NetHack game from Google Play recently, but there’s a worthy successor in Pathos, a roguelike that has all the dungeon crawling features you need with a slightly fresher coat of paint.
From the creators of The Binding Of Isaac comes The Legend Of Bum-bo, a game that has all the squishy and gross aesthetics of those other games, but with a completely different combat system. Control one of the Bum-bos and use your deck-building skills to advance. Now when will we get the Android port of Binding Of Isaac?
A turbulent platformer with gun boots and evil bats, and if you haven’t played it yet, you should correct that as soon as possible. It takes a while for everything to click, but when it does, it will stay clicked for a long time.
A road-going roguelite filled with zombies, goons and cars. It’s challenging, exciting and very funny too. There are countless different scenarios, lots of different characters to discover, and lots of zombies to take down. Or eat it.
It’s time to fight the forces of evil… Dance Battle. Crypt Of The Necrodancer is a roguelike rhythm game where you must master the timing of the music to survive and succeed in the perilous dungeon. It has cross-platform multiplayer too, so you can team up with your friends or challenge them to a dance.
One of the undisputed goats in the roguelike world. The completely addictive gameplay is only rivaled by the developer’s commitment to providing a fun and fair experience. This extends to porting Vampire Survivors to Android internally to avoid signing it over to any developer who might invest in it in a predatory way. Bunkle is truly the hero we need.
Aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you just want to be evil? Legend Of Keepers is the roguelike game for you. Take on the role of middle management of the dungeon and use your strategic skills to keep adventurers away from your loot.
