These days, crossovers with another IP are pretty much the norm in online gaming, but this weekend’s Call of Duty x Squid Game event looks like it’s worth paying attention to Xbox Game Pass.
This is big Black ops 6 & War zone The meeting that begins today (Jan 3), has some unique looking game modes very Different from the Call of Duty series. There’s also an event-specific Battle Pass containing a free rewards track for some Squid Game-themed freebies – available to all players.
Anyway, back to those unique game modes. Instead of usual Shoot shoot Typically offered by COD, the event’s “Red Light, Green Light” mode is a decent recreation of Squid’s gameplay. Players can move freely when the green light is on, but do so when the red light is active, and you will be obliterated by the host.
Here’s a clip of Limited Mode in action, and below is the team’s official description of the red light and green light:
“Young Hee is watching, so don’t miss at the wrong time. Enter the field in the red card court and play three rounds of red light and green light, each lasting two minutes. In the first round, no one gets a chance.” In the second and third rounds, you can catch Land weapons and eliminate other rivals with melee attacks and finishing moves.
There is one simple rule: when Young Hee says “green light,” the fight begins. Move a muscle after you say ‘red light’ and you’re toast.”
Alongside the main attraction here, there’s also a Zombies spin on the mode called ‘Dead Light, Green Light’, while Treyarch has also created a moshpit playlist where the game puts some Squid Game spins on a range of Call of Duty multiplayer modes. COD x Squid starts on 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT on January 3 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – Accessible with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
