2024 has been a very, very good year for gaming, and while Xbox’s first-party output has been dry at times and perhaps lacked a certain spark overall (at least in this writer’s opinion), the likes of Indiana Jones and the Grand Circle, Code: Black Ops 6, Age of Mythology: Retelling and Hellblade 2 Still leading to an undoubtedly productive 12 months.
And now, 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most packed years for video games ever, as we start with one of the most anticipated Xbox RPGs of the past two years (I confess) to boot!
That’s right, there’s no stopping to catch your breath guys, it’s time to jump right into a brand new year by checking out the most anticipated Pure Xbox titles of 2025.
Who doesn’t want more Dynasty of warriors? Well, look, there are probably a lot of people. But the fans, the fans who actually love Dynasty Warriors, are nothing if not committed to being very excited for a lot of the same thing going on ad nauseam. We’re kidding, we’re actually pretty impressed with ourselves.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins It seems to be more than just More of the sameHowever, it delves more into the lore and story of the first half of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the Chinese novel on which the games are based. Instead of trying to cram the whole thing in, they break it down, take it slowly, and hopefully make it more relatable in the process.
More depth to the story seems like a step in the right direction for us, as much as we love to relentlessly tear apart millions of idiots, and it’s the first new entry in seven years, so we might as well be excited, right?
Kingdom Come Salvation 2 The year 2025 looks to be off to a very realistic start as far as RPGs are concerned, with Henry of Skalitz returning for another slice of fantastic 15th century action.
Warhorse Studios has nailed the atmosphere of 15th century bohemia for their debut, although the first bite of the cherry took a while to get right, and it looks like this second outing will arrive in a more polished state. Let’s hope for less friction and more conveniences for players this time around, because we truly believe that this studio is capable of bringing down the best of the best if it nails everything on the gameplay front. Henry’s first adventure is a hidden gem that’s still worth experiencing, and this sequel could eventually become one of 2025’s unexpected big events.
I’m not sure if any of you have heard of this little one Assassin’s Creed The series that Ubisoft had on the go, but for those of you who did, well, here’s another one.
Shadows of Assassin’s Creed Finally, finally, it takes the series to feudal Japan, a place so perfect that we think it’s going to be dynamite, regardless of any problems or delays. With two heroes and modern parkour, stealth and combat, we think Shadows will be a fun time for a long time when it launches in February.
A new Obsidian RPG is always something to get really excited about, so we went in and got really excited about it I confess. twice.
but! It’s almost time, finally, actually. As this classic-style fantasy epic approaches release date (and will never be ported again) expect the smart kind of RPG that features choice-based conversations, plenty of excellent writing, a cast of memorable characters, and, judging by… The awesome gameplay trailer we just watched while devouring leftover chocolate, some of the battle scenes are quite exciting. February 13 can’t come soon enough!
Phenomenal creators Life is strange Return in the year 2025 with this all-new fantasy adventure. As four old friends reunite after lifelong separations, expect these adventures to be tinged with the kind of heart-tugging poignancy that Don’t Nod is known for.
The first part of this new effort will be released in February, with the final part, Part 2, arriving in March – we love sequel video games – and we expect nothing less than to be left frustrated and bulging-eyed by the end.
He listens. When the trailer is announced Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirates in Hawaii Aired for the first time, this writer let out an audible sort of whoop-like noise in pure delight. Very annoying, but also just a moment of complete abandon, because this incredibly ridiculous premise is exactly what we want to see from this incredibly ridiculous – and yet always somewhat poignant – series.
We’re not worried about how good the game is, the last two LaD games have been among our favorites of the generation (Infinite wealth We’re robbed of not being in the top 10 for 2024, let’s face it) and so we’ll just have to wait now, and not even for a long time, for the good things to come our way. It may be a slightly smaller package, as a Majima-focused episodic show with a lot of action, but we’re still expecting a decently long story filled with the kind of insanity that only Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios knows how to bring.
Monster Hunter Wilds It feels like it’s arriving at some sort of completely unexpected and massively popular golden age for a series that, what seemed like mere moments ago, was to only us super nerds.
We love it, and make no mistake, it’s great to see this series realizing its massive potential, and Wilds seems willing to go above and beyond in welcoming new players into the fold. New mounts, known as Seikrets, now enable hunters to track scents from afar – a potential game-changer – as well as enabling you to carry an additional weapon. Changing weather conditions bring about the biggest changes, and judging by the trailers we’ve seen so far, they also look like the best the series has done yet. We can’t wait!
It takes two It was a great game and a huge success for Hazelight Studios. So, it’s clear that all eyes are on their next project, Split imaginationwhich to us seems like the perfect vehicle for the studio’s unique brand Cooperative from A to Z Game design.
In Split Fiction, players team up to overcome an expansive series of challenges thanks to the core concept of being immersed in a series of books, where all types of video game adventures are covered. It feels like it could be the culmination of everything we’ve gotten from the geniuses at Hazelight so far, and we’re primed and ready to have some seriously fun times with a friend.
The Lord of the Rings is still a thing.
It rhymes with discontent or celebration, depending on where you’re coming from. Fortunately we’re in the celebration camp, and Shire Tales: The Lord of the Rings game It also happens to be produced by Weta Worshop, so it’s directly related to the movies, and thus was probably also designed by whoever wrote the damn books in the first place.
Think “incredibly cozy Hobbiton life simulation set” and we think you get the gist of this kid-friendly adventure!
Okay, let’s see here. Rebellion, makers of the phenomenon Elite sniper Have you made a game set in northern England where you try to survive the aftermath of a nuclear disaster? Where would we sign our lives away to get this now, please?
Atomvale It’s 100% right up there with the most exciting predictions for 2025, and if Rebellion can fill it with as much clever humour, well-crafted mechanics and fun as their shooter games, well, aren’t we all in for great fun as they say in the north of England. maybe.
